Finding Your Wild Place: Embracing the Modern Explorer.
Have you ever felt the pull towards a place, action, or sensory experience that unexpectedly heals you? We all have rituals that help us transition from our everyday mindset to a more open, receptive state of being.
What’s your ritual for getting into the right frame of mind? Sometimes, you may find yourself drawn to certain places. Once you’re there, they unexpectedly heal you. It could refer to a place, an action, or a sensory experience. In it, you create clear water between your normal mind and a more open one.
This is the lighthearted side of the journey of a modern explorer.
I recently went to a primeval forest near Helsinki. It’s amazing how this area exudes wild, untamed energy. It let me be curious about everything around, and focus on the sensations around me.
To me, it feels like a timeless place. It is amazing to think that so many eras have passed and these locations have remained unchanged.
These places inspire me to accept the outsider in myself. Aside from history and geography, there is a lighter, more personal aspect to the journey. You can savour the simple joys of the forest. As a result, you become more aware of your own senses.
Sitting quietly can also bring peace. It comes from hearing the rustle of leaves, and rain while smelling the earthy scent of the forest, as it did there.
It gives us a break from the usual noise we are used to, free from the constraints of modern life.
This is where I allow my mind to drift. Also, I can uncover better ways to innovate in my life.
This lighthearted aspect of exploration is a personal journey. It allows us to enjoy simple pleasures and become more attuned to our senses. Embracing the outsider within us lets us find new ways to connect with wild places. It also helps us innovate with care in our lives.
Create your own ritual
What’s your wild place? Whether it’s a place, an action, or a sensory experience, let it be something that creates a clear space between your everyday thoughts and a more open, exploratory mindset. In doing so, you too can embrace the outsider in yourself and find healing and inspiration. You can then discover your inner strength and what sets you apart.
